Lucy Schwartz released a new music video and I love it!

October 1, 2010

If you’ve been reading the a’tris blogs for a while, then you may recognize our friend, Lucy Schwartz. I first wrote about what she was doing in my Meet Our Friends series, and later shared her music video for “Gravity”. Today I’m writing to enlist your aid in helping us get her some great exposure.

Yesterday, Lucy released her new album, Life in Letters [iTunes] yesterday, and the folks at MTVU have given her a chance to compete to get her new music video for “Graveyard” some air time! I’ve included the video below. If you like it as much as I do, would you take a moment to vote for her here? Voting ends today at 2PM so be sure to get your votes in soon! You could even join me in leaving her a comment. Lucy’s an incredibly gifted artist and a super awesome gal. I really appreciate you showing her your support!

Hope this finds you feeling healthy!

Brian Hazard Debuts “Too Close”

April 26, 2010

About a month or so ago, I wrote a piece in my ‘Meet Our Friends‘ series on the ridiculously awesome and talented Brian Hazard. And I’m not just writing that because he is a friend of ours, I mean that because I seriously dig what he’s doing. So, when I fired up NetNewsWire this morning and saw that Brian had posted a new song called “Too Close” on his blog and wrote that it was his “best song in a long time,” I was super pumped to check it out.

Rather than posting the tune on this space, I’d like to invite you to give it an ear by clicking here. If you like it, you can download it for free from Brian in MP3 format and there’s no catch so I’m definitely thinking some comment love is in order.

Hope you enjoy “Too Close” as much as I did!

Meet Our Friend: Brian Hazard

March 25, 2010

After another day of apartment hunting in NYC, I was stoked to return to Nate’s place to find a message from Brian Hazard in my inbox. For those of you who don’t know, Brian is the creative force behind the electronic indie piano-pop band, Color Theory [Official, MySpace, Facebook]. I write that because he does everything, and I mean everything: Songwriting, recording, programming – the whole nine yards. In a recent phone conversation, I asked Brian what he didn’t do. I’m pretty sure he said he had a little help with graphic art :)

While I was first officially introduced to Brian by Kevin English from eleetmusic, I realized that I’d bumped into his work on several occasions before we first met. Color Theory was a fellow Microsoft sponsored songs artist and Brian’s music was featured on Playlist 7 as well [See: How You've Helped us Share Our Music]. Color Theory was also recently named the grand prize winner in the annual John Lennon Songwriting Contest. I think, once you listen to his tunes, you’ll immediately see why.

Speaking of Color Theory’s tunes, Brain is doing something seriously cool with his blog. About once a week or so, he posts a new song for feedback. Sometimes he even uploads certain parts by themselves so you can see how everything fits together. How cool is that? Recently Brian shared a tune called “It Must be Halloween” which completely blew my mind. Here’s a Google Voice message he left me about story behind the song. I’ve included a streaming version of it below for your streaming pleasure as well. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Hope this finds you feeling healthy!
